[NBC Sports Bay Area] - Jalen Brunson's stardom similar to Steph Curry, LeBron James, per Draymond Green

The 2026 NBA Finals have been nothing short of spectacular so far. With the San Antonio Spurs facing the New York Knicks, fans have been treated to a heavyweight bout that features massive stars such as Victor Wembanyama and . After of the series on the road in San Antonio, Brunson and the Knicks returned to New York on Monday, where Warriors star Draymond Green had a particular observation about the fans in attendance and the buzz in Madison Square Garden. “What’s impressive to me is, I’ve obviously played in six NBA Finals, or whatever it is, but I’ve played with Stephen Curry, and I’ve played against LeBron James a lot,” Green stated on ESPN’s “Inside the NBA.” “And the amount of Jalen Brunson jerseys I see stacks up to the amount of Stephen Curry and LeBron James jerseys you see. And that’s what’s been most impressive to me is how much support [fans] have for [the New York Knicks], but in particular, how much this city has banded around [Brunson], who’s the engine in pushing this whole thing forward.” "The amount of Jalen Brunson jerseys I see stacks up to the amount of Stephen Curry and LeBron James jerseys you see." – on the support the Knicks fans have shown the team and Brunson 🙌 — NBA on ESPN (@ESPNNBA) Since signing with New York as a free agent in 2022 from the Dallas Mavericks, Brunson has become the who helped bring . New York has won at least 47 games and has made the playoffs in each of the last four seasons since Brunson’s arrival. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound star also was an NBA All-Star and a second-team All-NBA selection in each of the last three years and won the Clutch Player of the Year award for the 2024-25 season. Similarly, Curry helped turn a struggling organization around by leading the Warriors to in eight seasons, as did James, who put his hometown team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, back on the map and led them to their first championship in franchise history in 2016. Brunson averaged 26.0 points and 6.8 assists per game in 74 appearances during the 2025-26 regular season, and is averaging 26.9 points and 6.2 assists per game in 17 contests in the Knicks’ playoff run this year. In Game 3 of the NBA Finals, Brunson’s 32 points were not enough as the Knicks fell to the Spurs 115-111, but New York still has a 2-1 series lead and is in a prime position to reach their goal of winning the franchise’s first championship since 1973.

[NBC Sports Bay Area] - Brian Windhorst eyes Warriors as likeliest non-Lakers LeBron James destination

One of the biggest uncertainties heading into the upcoming NBA offseason is LeBron James’ future. With the 23-year NBA veteran just yet, there have been many discussions on where James will land if he decides to play basketball for another season. The Los Angeles Lakers have expressed their for another season alongside six-time NBA All-Star Luka Dončić. Still, ESPN’s NBA insider Brian Windhorst believes the to keep an eye on if the reunion between James and the Lakers falls through. “If it doesn’t work out with the Lakers, I’d watch the Warriors,” Windhorst said Tuesday on ESPN’s “The Pat McAfee Show.” “I know that everybody loves the idea of LeBron in Cleveland, [but] Cleveland needs perimeter defense. It would be a great story. He would definitely help them, but Cleveland needs interior toughness and perimeter defense, and LeBron can do some of that. Also, that would require LeBron to play for three million bucks. “If he wants to play for three million, he could do it, but until I hear from [James’ agent] Rich Paul that LeBron is ready to play for three million, I’m not going to believe it. But, I’d watch Golden State. He played with Steph Curry and Steve Kerr on the Olympic team. We know he’s close with Draymond Green. I still think it’s the Lakers. I say 51 percent Lakers, and then we’ll see.” "I think the best place for LeBron James is with the Lakers.. There has to be a number in there that respects LeBron and still gives the Lakers a chance to improve their roster.. If it doesn't work out with the Lakers I'd watch the Warriors" ~ — Pat McAfee (@PatMcAfeeShow) James has spent the in Los Angeles after bringing the Cleveland Cavaliers to four consecutive NBA Finals appearances with one championship during the 2015-16 season. The 41-year-old also won an NBA title with the Lakers during the 2019-20 season. Even at this point in his career, James still managed to average 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game in 60 appearances during the 2025-26 season. The four-time NBA champion also was averaging 23.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game before being swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference semifinals. “I think the best place for him is to be a Laker because if he walks out the door, that’s [losing] 22 points, seven rebounds, six assists [per game and] a generational legend,” Windhorst also stated. “The thought that the Lakers are just going to be able to replace him is super simple, but the issue is the amount of money. Every dollar they give to LeBron, they can’t give to a free agent, because they have to improve this team. Look at how good the Spurs and the Thunder are. You know the Nuggets are good and the Wolves. They have to make up some ground.” Since winning a championship in 2020, the Lakers have not made it back to the NBA Finals, even after acquiring Dončić from the Dallas Mavericks in a blockbuster deal. If James decides to move on from Los Angeles and head up north to San Francisco, pairing him with Curry, who also is getting closer toward his retirement, would be a dream scenario for many fans. But only time will tell if we will ever see James in a Warriors uniform.
