Well, I hope I was able to entertain you guys a little bit tonight with some stories and information. I sure appreciate getting to spend time with you tonight in the middle of what has been a difficult time for the world. I sure miss baseball and I know you do too.
Luis Gonzalez: "I choked up a little bit more in the ninth inning because when Torre went and brought the infield in I just didn't want to hit a ground ball. I just wanted to get it into the outfield somehow and our guys could tag up and score."
I just asked Brenly why he went with Grace in this game over Durazo. His answer? Career equity, better defense and ability to make better contact so they could hit and run (like they did in 2nd) in what he expected would be a low-scoring game.
"We knew Mariano Rivera was going to be in the game," Finley said. "Coming off that field to a man we said, 'We are going to get the guy this time.' I can't explain it, but we were confident about being able to get to him this time around."
Following the Soriano homer there in the 8th: "Even that home run, I’ve watched that a million times," Brenly said. "How did he hit that ball out? I don’t know how he did. Watch the replay and you'll see Damian going down to block the pitch."
