Jeff mentions this in his excellent report, but a source told me this morning that MLS’ second offer was essentially the same as the first. Still a two-year extension, still no pay cuts in 2021. Major difference was an increase in percentage bump for cap, minimum, etc. in 2027.
People (including myself) bashing the Seahawks for not firing Chad Wheeler: He's not actually on their team. He was a practice squad player and his contract ended with the Seahawks season. He's not on their "reserve futures" contract list nor on their roster. They CAN'T fire him.
Did MLS really need to re-open CBA talks? Or are the negotiations a case of owners trying to leverage the pandemic into ripping up their contract w/ the players? Look at their spending. Look at their offer. As a deadline looms, the evidence seems clear: https://t.co/jrlELhSXV5
This is definitely worth a look.
