Georgia fans will never forget Tarkenton's pass to Bill Herron for the touchdown that beat Auburn 14-13 for the SEC championship. What fans forget is that Auburn led 13-7 was running out the clock when the Tigers fumbled. The loose ball was recovered for Georgia by Pat Dye.
I once asked HOF quarterback Fran Tarkenton to name his favorite teammate at Georgia. He didn't hesistate. "Patrick Fain Dye," he said. Two time All-American in 1959 and 1960. Won an SEC championship in 1959, beating Auburn in Athens. RIP, Coach.
RT @CoachMackBrown: The recent tragedies in Georgia and Minnesota are unacceptable. The violence has to stop. We talk about communication, trust and respect. There’s not much of that right now and it continues to tear us apart. Listen, learn, empathize. Let’s come together and change for the better.
I missed truly with so many notables passing away this week. Pepper Rodgers passed away on Thursday and I missed it. A great player in the 50’s and Coach at Georgia Tech, Kansas, and UCLA, and later USFL. A great storyteller, I’ll never forget his audition for @CollegeGameDay.
