Historic night. To be clear though, there are women’s professional sports in North America with female coaches...
With Pop ejected, Becky Hammon is ostensibly now the first woman to serve as head coach of a North American professional sports team.
My guess is he figures he’ll be in the NFL in two years. I don’t think he plans to be in Corvallis for five years. But I have no inside knowledge on that.
RT @ground_guru: Major appointment for @Lionesses - @DawnScott06 is leaving @ussoccer to become the new Physical Performance Coach for Phil Neville's side. During her 9 years in US, @USWNT won Olympics + 2 World Cups. @hopesolo described her work as "second to none". https://t.co/8jRyhpFCWD https://t.co/Q1LYZML6zj
I do think it's a good sign that the Timbers protected Diego Valeri in terms of his chances of returning next year. Designated players aren't automatically protected #RCTID
RT @TheAthleticSCCR: BREAKING: #MLS has terminated the contract of Portland Timbers striker Brian Fernandez for noncompliance with the league’s substance abuse and behavioral health program, and is readying a lawsuit against his former club Necaxa. @PaulTenorio with details: https://t.co/cRdsSFBOrU https://t.co/Uug6m6vTBj
Other big news coming out of Paul’s article is that MLS is suing Necaxa over the Fernandez fallout. I had heard similar rumblings, though the basis of the lawsuit isn’t clear #RCTIF
Well, there is the background that I was hoping would appear. And this is the league stepping in here to aid the Timbers as well. Wow. #rctid
Assuming Fernandez adhered to the stipulations of the SABH program, I was under the impression that it would have been hard for the Timbers to get out of his contract. It appears he did not comply with SABH program, per Paul #RCTID
