UPDATE: - Reminder, the black lines are the average B1G efficiency (1.017 PPP as of today). - Purdue is a Tournament-caliber team that nonetheless may well miss the Tournament. Unsurprisingly, it has some bad Kenpom luck (341st).
Seeing all those players from IU's 1980 team today was great, as well as all the other former players. Now I wonder if Purdue will bring back its 1980 team that beat IU in the NCAA tournament and reached the Final Four for the rematch at Mackey Arena?
What a difference a week makes for Purdue. Felt like their season was teetering on collapse trailing Northwestern late, but they come back with an 11-0 game-sealing rally, bludgeon Iowa with historic performance, and continue their current rivalry (and Assembly Hall) dominance.
The rivalry between Purdue and Indiana fans means more to Purdue's faithful because they are in the position of being the eternal underdog as far as fan popularity. For them, winning in Assembly Hall is the ultimate regular season experience.
Similar to the game when Knight threw the chair and Purdue won. Everybody talked about the chair instead of the victory.
While totally understanding the story line, I feel bad for Purdue & its fans. They just turned in perhaps their best road performance of the season, and deserve to have had it mentioned with the same regularity as the broadcast’s trip down memory lane.
